About the role
- Research and contribute to the timely and accurate publication of news across our news platforms, + más Daily and + más Impact.
- Ensure all published content meets high editorial standards of clarity, credibility, and cultural relevance.
- Collaborate with copywriters to include fact-check and verify sources, maintaining consistency in tone and style across platforms.
- Develop and adapt news stories and new formats into engaging content for Noticias Para Immigrantes social media channels.
- Prepare well-structured scripts and content (in Spanish) for social media channels.
- Participate as on-camera talent creating face-forward and/or faceless videos for our different news platforms (Noticias Para Inmigrantes /+más Daily and +más Impact).
- Assist in monitoring performance metrics to refine content strategies and maximize reach and impact.
- Research, pitch, and produce at least one original, in-depth article per week addressing key issues that affect Latino immigrant communities in the US.
- Write opinion and analysis pieces that provide insight, context, and critical reflection on immigrant experiences.
- Incorporate original sources, historical context, and culturally informed perspectives into every story.
- Approach sensitive and opinion topics with empathy, demonstrating awareness of the challenges and realities faced by immigrant communities.
- Uphold journalistic integrity by ensuring accuracy, transparency, and fairness in all reporting.
Requirements
- 2+ years experience as a journalist developing, researching, and publishing news and information relevant to the Latino community in digital and social media platforms (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube), ideally with a social justice mission in mind.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish, with native-level Spanish speaking and writing skills required.
- Journalistic Research & Writing: Strong skills in investigative research, fact-checking, and crafting clear, compelling stories that balance accuracy with cultural relevance.
- Full-cycle content creator: Experience creating news and relevant information from start to finish, including research, scripting, editing, and publishing, particularly for Latino audiences.
- Content trendsetter: Highly motivated and creative, with a passion for fast-paced short form news and storytelling and enjoys learning about innovative content formats and trends.
- Cultural Competency: Deep understanding of the experiences, challenges, and perspectives of Latino communities in the U.S., with sensitivity to diversity within the community.
- Collaboration & Adaptability: Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment, balancing multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail and deadlines.
- Deadline-driven and detail-focused: Skilled at prioritizing multiple projects, working in a fast-paced environment, meeting multiple deadlines and being detail-oriented.
- Data-informed content strategist: Comfortable with analyzing data to inform and support content creation decisions.
- Independent and adaptable team player: Known for taking initiative and completing tasks, whether creative or technical. Comfortable working both independently and in collaboration with team members from diverse backgrounds.
- Adaptability to remote work with team members across the country and strong time management skills.
- Learning Mindset: Willingness to learn new technologies and tech tools, including Lean Startup methodology and experimentation. Eager to further develop editing skills: Hands-on experience with video editing tools and content production software (AI tools, Adobe Premiere, CapCut, Final Cut, or similar) is preferred but not required.
