About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Tutor elementary school students one-on-one in reading using Reading Partners’ structured, evidence-based curriculum
  • Provide online tutoring through video conferencing
  • Track student progress using Reading Partners tools
  • Complete routine check-ins with a Reading Partners team member
  • Assist the Reading Partners Program Coordinator with administrative support
  • Perform administrative duties as needed
  • Attend Reading Partners orientation and training
  • Commit to a consistent Monday-through-Thursday tutoring schedule between 8 am and 5 pm

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Eligible for Federal Work Study
  • No prior tutoring experience required
  • Consistent availability Monday through Thursday between 8 am and 5 pm
  • Patience and empathy for students while holding high expectations
  • Willingness and eagerness to learn and receive coaching
  • Interest in interacting effectively with diverse student populations
  • Ability to work independently or with limited supervision
  • Reside within North Texas, Detroit, Washington DC, Newark, New York, or South Carolina
  • Access to reliable Wi-Fi
  • Access to a PC, Mac, or Chromebook with a functioning webcam, microphone, and headphones with a microphone
  • Abide by the Tutor Code of Conduct
  • Complete a Live Scan background check
  • Attend Reading Partners orientation and training
  • Online tutoring sessions will be recorded for student support and safety purposes
