About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Provide technical expertise to, and support the Contracts Director in the management of, Abt Australia’s enterprise contracting activity.
  • Develop and maintain trusted relationships and high customer service standards with diverse internal and external clients.
  • Support the Contracts Director in the development, implementation, and continual improvement of a pragmatic and innovative framework for contracting activity in close consultation with program and corporate stakeholders.
  • Support the Contracts Director on contracting activities and approvals. Provide technical advice to other corporate stakeholders as required.
  • Lead the provision of technical advice and undertake contracting and procurement activity in respect of complex and high value contracts.
  • Continuously improve expertise in, and current awareness of changes to, the laws and client procurement rules relevant to Abt Australia’s contracting activity.
  • Provide guidance to Abt Australia’s Business Growth teams in the contracting aspects of new business opportunities being pursued.
  • Train staff and provide additional capacity building to key internal clients on templates, policies, procedures, contracting and grant.
  • Serve as contracts POC for subcontracts.
  • Coordinate director/shareholder approvals, statutory filings and registrations, with a focus on international branches and subsidiaries.
  • Support establishment, maintenance and closure of entities, branches and registrations across operating jurisdictions.
  • Maintain company records and corporate information.
  • Provide practical, accurate and timely legal advice, training and other legal support to the company and its subsidiaries on a broad range of legal issues as required.

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Business, Procurement, Contracts Management or a related discipline and three years of work experience.
  • Legal qualifications are desirable but not essential.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex commercial contracts, procurement activities, grants, subcontracts, supplier agreements and/or consulting arrangements within a government, international development, professional services or similarly regulated environment.
  • Strong knowledge of contract lifecycle management, procurement frameworks, risk management and commercial governance practices.
  • Experience interpreting and applying client procurement rules, legislative requirements, corporate policies and contractual obligations.
  • Proven ability to provide sound commercial advice and manage high-value, complex or strategically significant contracting activities.
  • Demonstrated capability to build trusted relationships with diverse stakeholders and deliver high levels of customer service across corporate and program teams.
