About the role

  • The Software QA Engineer performs advanced and/or supervisory computer systems analysis and team lead work, administering the daily operations and activities of testing teams within the Quality Assurance (QA) section of IT-SEDS (Information Technology – Statewide Education Data System).
  • Work involves planning, budgeting, and analyzing user requirements, procedures, and problems to automate processing or to improve existing systems.
  • Analyze user requirements, design documents and other documentation to develop detailed test cases
  • Create and execute automated functional and regression test cases against HTML, PDF, and Excel Reports, report and document all issues, test cases ran, test results, and testing summaries in detail
  • Perform SQL queries to analyze and manipulate data
  • Work with development team and customers to clearly understand functionality under test and implement test case automation
  • Execute performance and accessibility testing
  • Perform manual testing and data validation
  • Support implementation of apps/projects in the Texas Education Agency

Requirements

  • Required: complex Web Applications Testing
  • Required: all phases of Software Development Life Cycle
  • Required: Advanced Database/SQL Language
  • Required: API, JSON, XML
  • Required: Experience with WAPT Pro, Jmeter, or other performance testing tools
  • Preferred: Experience testing reports
  • Preferred: Experience in API testing (SOAP and REST)
  • Preferred: Previous experience with Zephyr Scale
  • Preferred: Previous experience with JIRA
