About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support delivery of public-sector consulting projects alongside senior colleagues
  • Support councils through Local Government Reorganisation, including option development, service and financial disaggregation, business cases, programme mobilisation, shadow authority preparation and early implementation planning
  • Promote place-based investment approaches that drive inclusive economic growth and long-term community value
  • Help organisations facing financial pressure stabilize their position, identify savings and income opportunities, and establish sustainable operating and governance arrangements
  • Develop local economic strategies that leverage public investment and catalyse regeneration and sustainable growth
  • Support transformation of social care, SEND and housing services through commissioning, market management, service redesign, demand management and system working
  • Deliver strategic asset reviews and asset-based business cases
  • Support workforce and cultural change during transformation programmes
  • Secure future housing provision through option appraisals, feasibility studies, stakeholder engagement and business cases
  • Support digital, data and technology transformation, including AI-enabled improvement, ERP and core-system change, cloud migration and complex technology programmes
  • Develop trading companies, joint ventures and partnerships to secure investment
  • Redesign operating models and resident access to services
  • Provide procurement strategy, complex procurement and route-to-market advice
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with varied audiences and client contexts
  • Deliver high-quality client work, including data analysis, insights and proofread reports
  • Own defined tasks, meet deadlines, flag risks and seek support proactively
  • Build sector, market and commercial understanding of public-sector consulting
  • Contribute to business development through proposals, case studies and client relationships

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Experience in consulting or a similar client-facing role
  • Experience working for or with the public sector, either in-house or in consulting for public-sector clients
  • Growth mindset with commitment to feedback and continuous self-improvement
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and navigate complex or unclear issues
  • Analytical, systematic and logical thinking skills
  • Ability to break down complex information for clients and colleagues
  • Ability to build excellent client relationships
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment
  • Passion for social impact and working with the public sector
  • Self-starter with drive and ambition
  • Active contribution to company culture, internal initiatives and knowledge-sharing
  • Technical interview includes an Excel test and case study/presentation task
  • Availability for a final in-person interview
