About the role
- The Staff Product Designer on AI will operate as a strategic leader and expert practitioner, shaping the future of our AI product experiences. You’ll define and champion UX vision and strategy for your area of ownership, partnering closely with product and engineering leaders to set direction that balances customer needs, market trends, and business goals.
- You’ll tackle complex, ambiguous problems, leading by example in framing challenges, setting priorities, and using evidence-based insights to drive design decisions.
- You’ll mentor and coach other designers, elevate our team’s craft, and influence the roadmap at the highest levels of the organization.
- Your understanding of security principles will guide your design work while keeping the user experience clear, approachable, and trustworthy.
- This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.
- What we're looking for
- 8+ years of relevant product design experience, ideally in fast-paced, product-led companies, with staff-level responsibilities and leadership presence.
- Experience designing AI-powered product features or tooling (e.g., generative AI, ML-powered recommendations, large language models, etc.), or a strong interest and capacity to ramp up quickly in this space.
- Strong systems thinking: the ability to design for and reason about intelligent systems, user flows with non-deterministic outputs, and complex decision paths.
- Familiarity with concepts like model transparency, feedback loops, user control, and responsible AI, and how they impact product design.
- A strong understanding of human-centered design principles, and the ability to apply these even when working with emerging, unpredictable technologies.
- Experience designing in a cybersecurity context or for privacy-sensitive domains; a commitment to designing secure, trustworthy, and accessible user experiences.
- A portfolio that demonstrates depth in information architecture, interaction design, prototyping, and visual design, with examples of AI or data-driven features a strong plus.
- Comfortable navigating ambiguity, defining strategy, and bringing clarity through storytelling, facilitation, and open collaboration.
- Proven ability to mentor and uplevel other designers, while role-modelling curiosity, resilience, and thoughtful design critique.
- A growth mindset and a track record of navigating complexity and change with focus and optimism.
- Bonus points for: strong inclusive design and accessibility, design systems, contributions to the design community, familiarity with cybersecurity-related domains.
- What you can expect: identify and define design solutions for complex problems, lead UX vision for AI for Security and Security for AI, champion evidence-based decisions, prototype AI-driven interactions, act as a design leader and mentor, collaborate with AI workstream teams, advocate for ethical AI, etc.
- Month 1: immerse, meet partners, connect with EDR, shape design roadmap
- Month 3: user discovery, iterate roadmap, participate in design reviews, identify opportunities
- Month 6+: develop strong point of view, mentor, evolve UX vision for area.
