• The Property Tax Analyst supports and collaborates with multiple cross-functional teams: Shared Services (Tax Compliance, AP, AR, Lease and Project Costing), Corporate Tax, Brand Legal, Development, Payroll Tax, Brand Reporting and Finance.
• Coordinate with third party co-sourcing vendors, state and local taxing districts, and business licensing offices.

Property Tax Analyst

• Prepares and files tax returns and reports in compliance with established deadlines.

• Planning and execution of tax structuring efforts related to acquisitions, dispositions, financings, and joint ventures
• Partner with Acquisitions, Asset Management, Accounting, and Legal to develop and implement tax-efficient transaction structures
• Prepare tax modeling, technical analyses, and written memoranda for complex REIT structures (e.g., RIDEA/TRS, PropCo/OpCo, partnerships, B2B arrangements)
• Support transaction diligence and execution, including review of deal structures and coordination with advisors
• Closely collaborate with Tax Accounting and Tax Compliance to ensure accurate and timely reporting of planning positions
• Assist in monitoring REIT income and asset tests, including tracking intercompany income streams, and income and asset mix considerations
• Maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and communicate regularly with business executives and department leaders
• Manage relationships with outside advisors to ensure timely, budget-aligned delivery of tax, valuation, and related services

Manager, Tax Planning

• Performs complex qualitative and quantitative analysis of property operations such as credit facilities, crossed pools and cost recoup analyses to determine the viability of a proposed loan.
• Analyzes and understands financial statements and other documents to evaluate the risk profile of more complex transactions, which could include institutional ownership structures and site-specific matters.
• Conducts more in-debth analysis and structuring process for complex individual properties or a portfolio.
• Develops narrative for submission to Credit and agencies with qualitative and quantitative analysis at a more senior level, including the structure of the transaction, sponsorship behind the deal, financial statements, real estate schedules, expense statements, market information, creditworthiness and any deviations from underwriting guidelines

Senior Production Analyst – LIHTC/Tax Credit

• Write and produce practical tax content on a timely and regular basis with a focus on assigned news and features and gallery stories covering federal and state tax concepts and developments
• Assist the senior tax editor and the Kiplinger team with other editorial projects

Tax Writer

• Act as the central internal owner for U.S. indirect tax audit & controversy matters, coordinating internal stakeholders and serving as the primary interface with external advisors.
• Provide end ‑ to ‑ end oversight of U.S. indirect tax audits and disputes, including sales and use tax, property tax, and gross receipts taxes, by tracking status, evaluating technical positions, and driving timely resolution.
• Direct and manage external advisors engaged in audit defense and controversy, including setting expectations, reviewing and challenging work product, and ensuring conclusions align with the company’s risk profile and business objectives.
• Identify, document, and enhance internal controls related to indirect tax audits and compliance, partnering with relevant teams to implement process improvements that strengthen discipline, consistency, and audit readiness.
• Oversee the quarterly FAS 5 (ASC 450) reserve process for indirect taxes, coordinating with external advisors that prepare the initial reserve analyses, reviewing assumptions and conclusions, facilitating internal discussion, and obtaining alignment with Tax leadership.
• Drive efficiencies in audit data gathering and analysis by collaborating with IT, Finance, and business stakeholders to identify, implement, and leverage automation, reporting, and data tools.
• Monitor legislative, regulatory, and administrative developments affecting U.S. indirect taxes and assess potential impacts, escalating issues and recommended actions to Tax leadership as appropriate.
• Partner with cross ‑ functional teams on business initiatives, system implementations, and process changes to ensure indirect tax considerations and controversy implications are identified and addressed proactively.
• Develop and maintain standardized audit and controversy playbooks, documentation, metrics, and executive ‑ level reporting to enhance transparency, knowledge sharing, and governance.

Indirect Tax Manager

• Drive analysis and implementation of global tax planning initiatives
• Research and analyze U.S. and non-U.S. tax laws, regulations, and tax treaties and convey the analyses prepared both in writing and verbally to various tax technical and non-technical audiences
• Prepare tax analysis, including pros and cons and costs / benefits
• Prepare / review step plans and tax technical memoranda
• Communicate impacts and risks with the Managers and Directors, Tax Planning and M&A and the rest of the broader Management team
