Student Sensory Technician

Student technician supporting consumer taste tests at Oregon State University's Food Innovation Center.
Scheduling participants, preparing and serving samples, coding materials, and cleaning laboratory spaces.

• Minor Decoys work with Regulatory Specialists to ensure licensees lawfully sell and serve alcohol and marijuana products by confirming the licensees are not selling to minors.
• Attempts to purchase alcohol and marijuana products at alcohol and recreational marijuana retail locations.
• Accompanies Regulatory Specialists into licensed premises.
• May also participate in joint missions by accompanying personnel from law enforcement agencies or special interest groups in accordance with agency policy.
• Enters businesses to attempt to purchase alcohol or recreational marijuana using valid legal driver’s license, identification card or other valid identification to determine whether or not a retail OLCC licensee is selling alcohol or retail marijuana products to patrons under the age of 21.
• Selects or verbally requests regulated products.
• Attempts to purchase products using cash obtained from a Regulatory Specialist prior to the compliance check.
• Provides valid identification to clerk if asked.
• States correct age or date of birth if asked, and may not lie or otherwise verbally misrepresent age.
• Requests the return of identification if the clerk attempts to confiscate it.
• Communicates verbally and documents in writing minor decoy visits and findings in a narrative report.

Student Professional/Technical Worker – Multiple Positions

Minor Decoy position with the Oregon Liquor & Cannabis Commission ensuring compliance with age restrictions on sales. Engaging in attempts to purchase regulated products under supervision.

• Serve as a one-stop resource for students and community members, providing exceptional support across multiple service modalities.
• Play a critical role in welcoming and assisting individuals—whether they arrive with general questions, complex concerns, or are experiencing frustration.
• Provide clear, compassionate guidance and accurate information, drawing on a strong working knowledge of key partner departments across the College.
• Actively maintain this knowledge to ensure they can represent those areas effectively and offer timely, relevant support.
• Help connect individuals to appropriate college staff for more specialized assistance when needed.
• Access student systems to process registrations and perform other essential functions on behalf of students and the College.
• Create a seamless, student-centered experience that supports success, reduces barriers, and fosters a sense of belonging throughout the student journey.
