Research Scientist

• Lead high-impact research in food design and formulation, food processing, ingredient functionality, and structure-function relationships, producing high-quality publications and presentations in leading national and international forums
• Develop innovative food processing technologies and scalable solutions that support translation from laboratory research through to pilot plant and commercial manufacturing environments, while strengthening industry partnerships and commercialisation pathways
• Supervise Higher Degree by Research students and mentor emerging researchers, fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-performing research culture
• Build strategic partnerships across academia, industry, and government, contribute to governance and service activities, and champion a collaborative culture aligned with UQ values

Senior Research Fellow – Principal Research Fellow, Food Design and Formulation Lead

• Provide technical research support and subject matter expertise in support of mRNA manufacturing
• Coordinate aspects of mRNA products manufacturing, including template synthesis, purification, IVT processes and formulation
• Validate and execute analytical assays for the characterisation of mRNA quality attributes, including assays for purity, integrity, and stability
• Assist in the design of optimisation studies, under supervision of senior staff to improve manufacturing processes for efficiency, yield, and quality
• Maintain accurate and detailed records of experiments, procedures, and results
• Generate and follow Standard Operating Procedures with a high attention to detail
• Troubleshoot issues with manufacturing process/technical equipment, proposing and implementing solutions to ensure smooth operations under the guidance of supervisor
• Undertake maintenance and upkeep of facilities and equipment

Senior Research Assistant, mRNA Manufacture

• Develop and contribute to a coherent research program in infectious diseases or microbiology, with a focus on the design, delivery and analysis of international clinical trials, including the TREAT-GNB platform trial
• Produce high-quality research outputs and contribute to competitive funding applications
• Contribute to the supervision and development of Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
• Support junior researchers through feedback and guidance, fostering a positive and high-performing research culture
• Actively contribute to the life of the Institute through collaboration, internal service roles, emerging external partnerships, and by upholding University values
