• Perform data entry and processing of accounting records for various entities
• Support the team with month-end close activities and contribute to the preparation of financial statements
• Perform general ledger and bank account reconciliations

• Participate in the preparation of financial reports and support certain financial analyses

Accounting Technician

• Input and reconcile cash and cheque donations into Raiser’s Edge, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Assist in processing financial transactions.
• Maintain accurate records of financial transactions and ensure compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with team members to reconcile financial discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
• Assist in conducting basic financial analysis and provide recommendations for improvement.
• Support the audit process by preparing documentation and assisting auditors as needed.
• Adhere to confidentiality and data protection policies when handling financial information.
• Provide general administrative support to the Penny Appeal Canada team, including filing, data entry, and document management.
• Assist with the coordination of events, meetings, and conferences, including scheduling, logistics, and communications.
• Respond to inquiries from donors, volunteers, and other stakeholders in a professional and timely manner.
• Assist with the preparation of reports, presentations, and other materials for internal and external use.
• Conduct research on relevant topics and assist with special projects as assigned.
• Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and confidentiality requirements at all times.

Finance Clerk

• Assist the accounting team with recording and verifying financial transactions
• Enter data into the accounting system
• File and organize accounting documents and invoices
• Support accounts payable and accounts receivable processing
• Verify the accuracy of invoices and follow up with suppliers as needed
• Support the team in preparing monthly financial reports
• Perform various administrative tasks related to the accounting department

Accounting Student / Intern

• Day-to-day transaction management
• Record and reconcile all financial transactions across bank accounts, credit cards, and entities (personal, trusts, corporations).
• Account reconciliation & reporting
• Perform monthly reconciliations and produce clear, accurate financial reports (cash flow, net worth, income/expense summaries).
• Bill pay & cash flow management
• Manage accounts payable, schedule payments, track upcoming obligations, and ensure liquidity across accounts.
• Multi-entity bookkeeping
• Maintain separate books for various entities (holding companies, trusts, investments) while ensuring proper consolidation where needed.
• Coordination with advisors
• Work closely with accountants, tax advisors, investment managers, and legal professionals to provide clean, timely financial data.
• Record keeping & audit readiness
• Maintain organized documentation (invoices, statements, contracts) and ensure records are accurate and audit/tax-ready at all times.

Bookkeeper, 15 Month Contract

• Manage the full accounting cycle for Gestion D. Mercier and its affiliated companies
• Verify and prepare supplier payments
• Make bank deposits and manage accounts receivable collections
• Review and analyze General Ledger accounts
• Prepare month-end journal entries
• Perform bank reconciliations
• Monitor daily cash flow
• Prepare monthly and annual financial statements and compile year-end files for external auditors
• Process biweekly payroll for approximately ten employees across three companies
• Prepare Records of Employment, T4 slips, Relevé 1 and year-end payroll filings
• Process government remittances (tax instalments, GST/QST returns, source deductions)
• Perform any other related duties.
