Mechanical Engineer

• Bridge the gap between product design and engineering execution by translating high-level product strategy into clean, component-based wireframes
• Build functional, high-fidelity interactive code prototypes to validate design concepts with content creators and stakeholders
• Write production-ready front-end code, establishing standard styling patterns
• Embed deeply within the Nexus and Grove CMS ecosystems, engineering faster, highly efficient publishing workflows
• Partner directly with Product Managers, UX Designers, and engineering teams to co-develop functional requirements
• Actively participate in NPR's broader design cohort to scale design best practices
• Champion intuitive usability for both internal content creators and external public media audiences

Senior Design Engineer, Content Production Technology

• Lead mechanical design teams and mentor junior staff to produce construction-ready design packages
• Design facilities across industrial, commercial, and institutional sectors
• Have design skill sets in HVAC and Plumbing
• Support projects with USACE and NAVFAC
• Lead project lifecycle activities including budgets, proposals, schedules, staffing, and resource allocation
• Engage in business development and client relationship building within government sectors
• Ensure compliance with federal and industry standards (UFC, UFGS, NFPA, NEC, NESC, NETA, ANSI, IEEE, UL, UBC, IEC, CE, EN, ASHRAE)
• Travel as required (~20%)

Senior Mechanical Engineer – Federal Projects

• Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents
• Design mechanical systems including heating, cooling, heat rejection, air distribution, ventilation, air conditioning, building automation and controls
• Incorporate sustainable design methods in buildings and prepare green rating system documentation
• Assist in spatial coordination with architecture and other engineering systems
• Deliver projects across multiple delivery models, including design/bid/build, design assist, design build
• Process contractor submittals, RFIs
• Perform on site condition surveys
• Produce quality work
• Provide mentoring and direction to junior members of the project team or engineering discipline
• Use technology and methodologies to create innovative approaches to building design
• Consistently strive to improve technical quality of work product by keeping abreast of new technologies, changes in building codes, and advances in the industry
• Work collaboratively in a cross-discipline environment to produce integrated project documents, and insure integrated design approaches & solutions
• Assist in the procurement of high-quality work; including marketing / proposal efforts and project interviews
• Manage multi-disciplinary teams on projects related to Government, Healthcare, Higher Education and Science & Technology
• Maintain strong client relations as it pertains to project delivery and repeat business
• Perform and maintain thorough QA/QC on all phases of projects
• Participates in recruiting efforts across the firm
