Legal Assistant

• Provide legal and administrative support to a team of attorneys
• Create, prepare, proofread, and amend high volume complex legal documents, pleadings, including table of contents and table of authorities, letters and emails
• File pleadings with state and federal courts using various means, including electronic court filing systems.
• Calendar maintenance, such as scheduling hearings, briefing schedules, discovery deadlines, depositions, meetings, and knowledge of civil and federal court deadline filing dates, court rules, and procedures
• Prepare for and assist in trials
• Assist Paralegals in organizing case files and records maintenance
• Assist with travel arrangements upon request including car, hotel and airfare reservations, and complete attorney monthly expenses to accounting
• Administrative work, including billing, correspondence, invoices and reporting to clients

• Works with the assigned Attorney Advisors and/or supervisory attorneys
• Assesses, analyzes, and prepares written work products characterized by sound definitions of legal issues
• Assists with reviewing, supporting, and implementing policy and guidelines
• Analyses various legislative and regulatory initiatives
• Develops an understanding of applicable laws
• Alerts Attorney Advisors to potential issues
• Oversees practice regarding various program areas including immigration and fraud
• Supports Attorney Advisors by briefing pertinent facts and drafting legal documents

Law Clerk II

• Utilize appropriate software to timely prepare, e-file, and serve (as appropriate) correspondence, briefs, motions, pleadings, discovery, deposition notices, and other documents required by Washington, Oregon, and Idaho state courts, and sometimes federal court systems
• Maintain and manage attorney calendars, including scheduling deadlines, court dates, and depositions, using Outlook calendaring tools
• Assist attorneys as needed in preparation for trial
• Provide extensive scheduling and calendar coordination, including depositions and client meetings
• Review electronic mail daily and respond or route as appropriate
• Maintain electronic legal files in a paperless environment
• Process invoices for payment
• Leverage AI tools and systems, where applicable, to support document drafting, organization, and workflow efficiency
• Demonstrate professional diplomacy in all interactions with clients, opposing counsel, attorneys, teammates, claim partners, and court personnel
• Assist in overall office support as needed, including case matching, mail handling, electronic filing, PDF creation and compilation, file conversion, and related tasks

• This position is required to take and apply direction from various internal and external parties.
• A Legal Assistant will produce work product that reflects both the quantity and quality expected for their specific assigned tasks and do so with a high degree of accuracy.
• The Legal Assistant contributes value to the operations team by working to complete all duties thoroughly, accurately, and timely.
• This role also ensures compliance with laws, regulations, client requirements, court rules and best practices; collectively working to provide quality legal services to our clients.
