MultiMedia Journalist

• Gather and verify information through interviews, observation and research ensuring that the news reported remains objective and balanced
• Monitor sources for breaking news, e.g., wires and social media
• Plan, write, edit, and voice news broadcasts
• Finalize content using digital audio editing software
• Maintain crucial deadlines in order to provide news stories in a timely fashion
• Repackage content from producers and field reporters for newscasts
• Identify technical equipment and resource requirements for recording interviews and other audio material
• Produce features and interviews as assigned
• May specialize in a particular field of news broadcasting (e.g. political, traffic, finance or military)
• Prepare written content, visual images, audio material and video footage for websites, blogs or other social-media platforms

News Anchor, Reporter

• Write quickly and accurately on a variety of arts and entertainment topics, with a local focus
• Use social media as a tool to develop story ideas and respond to what our audience is talking about
• Build stories with links, tags, SEO best practices, attractive web headlines and multimedia when appropriate
• Work with editors to develop new models for coverage that resonates with our digital audience
• Assist with special digital projects, including video and audio projects, as needed

Arts & Entertainment Reporter

• Break news around the Dallas-Fort Worth Metropolitan Area
• Go to the scene of breaking news to provide details of events and develop sourcing
• Post news quickly and work with others on the team to develop it in real time
• Look for and write smart second- and subsequent-day follow-ups to breaking news stories
• Develop source networks with key agencies in Dallas and the metropolitan area to build faster awareness of breaking stories
• Take video from the scene of breaking news
• Produce stand-up videos that add context to the news
• Work with reporters on other teams to provide breaking coverage and add depth to stories from an array of desks

News Reporter

• Write 1-4 short-form articles per day, focusing on trending news, cultural events, politics, social media happenings, and entertainment news.
• Pitch articles that are suitable for a variety of traffic referral sources (including search engines, syndication platforms, and social media) and also in line with the voice and style of the target websites.
• Monitor news cycles and pitch either breaking news or appropriate short-form features that will provide a unique angle of coverage.
• Write articles based on pitches from the editorial staff.
• Put the factual accuracy of reporting front and center in your work.
• Utilize best practices for referrers and partners to ensure the best possible visibility.
• Be passionate and communicative with other staff, and engage with the pieces that you choose to write.

Regional Reporter

• Independently produce a mix of local news, politics, and lifestyle content
• Deliver 5-8 web stories per week that include original reporting and curated explainers
• Produce 2-4 pieces of social content per week to support newsletter and web stories
• Create content designed to drive audience growth and newsletter subscriptions
• Participate in courier Texas team virtual meetings (2-3 times a week) and editorial check-ins as needed

Freelance Reporter, Content Producer

• Produce timely, accurate, and insightful news and analysis on US LNG and natural gas markets.
• Write sharp, concise, and compelling news copy.
• Monitor US gas production, feed gas flows, pipeline capacity, LNG export terminals.
• Generate original story ideas, including breaking news and exclusives.
• Use Kpler data and tools to identify trends, spot anomalies, and originate data-led stories.
• Collaborate closely with reporters, analysts, and data teams to shape story angles.
• Develop and leverage a strong network of industry and regulatory contacts to break news.
• React quickly to breaking developments and deliver accurate coverage under tight deadlines.

LNG/Natural Gas Reporter

• Contribute three to six original articles per week to The Real Deal’s regular coverage of the real estate industry, typically focused on one of our markets (New York City, South Florida, Chicago, Texas, Los Angeles and San Francisco), but also occasionally on topics of national interest
• In most months, contribute a longer story (1,000 to 2,000 words) to The Real Deal’s monthly, national print magazine
• Occasionally contribute or collaborate on special reporting projects, typically investigative work or deeply researched features

Reporter

• Identifying and pitching breaking news, features and explainers
• Writing and updating stories on the news of the day
• Collaborating with other journalists across departments and formats
• Moderating panel discussions and representing the Tribune at public events
• Occasional travel and work on nights, weekends and holidays
