About the role
- provide direct administrative support to the Director of Federal Relations, Director of Health Sciences Policy and Advocacy, and Assistant Director of Federal Relations
- serve as the primary administrative point of contact
- handle complex and confidential matters involving external constituencies, including Washington State University (WSU) units across Pullman and statewide, as well as federal, state, county, and local government agencies, and the broader community
- support the Directors and Assistant Director across a wide range of responsibilities tied to the operations and initiatives of the federal relations and health sciences policy office
- schedule and coordinate congressional visits
- prepare briefing materials
- manage calendars and travel logistics
- track follow-up actions from stakeholder engagements
- assist with organizing meetings
- draft correspondence
- maintain accurate records of policy-related activities
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent AND two (2) years of clerical, office or administrative experience; OR one (1) year of experience as an Administrative Assistant 1.
- Proven ability to work effectively with individuals from a wide range of backgrounds, fostering respectful and collaborative relationships.
- Professional experience demonstrating the ability to thrive under pressure in a dynamic, fast-paced environment; proactively organize and prioritize multiple tasks and projects with precision; adapt to interruptions while consistently meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality service to a diverse range of constituents.
- Demonstrated skills in organizing and articulating ideas through both oral and written communication, with experience composing and refining professional correspondence and documentation.
- Must have, or be able to obtain by time of hire, a valid driver’s license and meet requirements in accordance with SPPM 7.10 and departmental driving standards.
