About the role
- Serve as Director of People and Culture, shaping and nurturing ACN’s organizational culture and remote workplace environment
- Act as a cultural steward championing ACN’s mission, vision, and values related to HR practices
- Develop and implement HR strategies that align with organizational strategy and objectives
- Partner with leadership to assess and enhance team effectiveness and drive organizational change initiatives
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor laws, ADA, EEO, leave policies, and manage internal investigations
- Oversee employee relations, conflict resolution, performance management, and employee leave administration (FMLA, ADA, sabbaticals)
- Manage relationships with external HR consultants and PEO to design and administer benefits and support enrollment
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, offboarding, exit interviews, and talent development
- Develop and manage employee performance assessment systems and performance improvement plans
- Monitor and manage HR budgets for recruiting, training, and benefits
- Oversee planning and evaluation of staff retreats, in-person membership meetings, and provide onsite event support
- Serve as staff liaison to Board Internal Affairs Committee and provide regular reports to board and stakeholders
- Travel 2-3 times per year within continental US for short trips (2-4 work days)
Requirements
- A commitment to ACN values
- 7-10 years of experience in HR and workplace culture sector
- Significant experience with federal and state HR compliance requirements
- Experience in sourcing, screening, interviewing, and selecting qualified candidates
- Experience in performance management, employee development, and succession planning
- Strong leadership presence and emotional intelligence
- Experience working with a PEO
- Comfort with Zoom as a primary means of communication
- Proficiency in using a computer to perform work-related tasks
- Ability to learn org-specific software and implement it in role-specific ways
- Great written and oral meeting-based communication skills
- Reliable with tracking due dates and compliance schedules
- Demonstrated ability to build and sustain durable relationships with a wide variety of people
- Strong project management, time management, and planning skills; ability to take initiative and drive projects independently
