About the role
- Lead, mentor, and grow a team of backend engineers working across data ingestion, transformation, and orchestration systems.
- Stay hands-on—review designs, guide architecture decisions, and contribute to code in Python and Kubernetes environments when needed.
- Partner with the Head of Infra & Eng to define technical roadmaps, delivery milestones, and success metrics.
- Establish lightweight, high-impact engineering processes that improve reliability, speed, and quality (CI/CD, testing, code review).
- Drive clarity and accountability across projects, ensuring alignment between engineering, product, and customer outcomes.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and operational rigor.
- Support recruiting, onboarding, and the ongoing growth of top engineering talent.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in software engineering, including 3+ years leading high-performing teams.
- Strong technical background in distributed systems, data infrastructure, or platform engineering.
- Deep fluency in Python and cloud infrastructure (Kubernetes, Docker, AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Track record of shipping and operating complex production systems.
- Experience establishing scalable delivery processes and engineering best practices.
- Exceptional communication, mentorship, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to balance technical depth with execution speed.
