About the role

  • Own backend architecture design and ensure integration alignment across AWS services (Glue, Redshift, DynamoDB, API Gateway, SQS, Cognito).
  • Translate product and business requirements into actionable technical specifications.
  • Participate in grooming sessions and proactively surface potential risks, dependencies, and trade-offs.
  • Support DevOps and Frontend Engineers by providing architectural context, data flow clarification, and environment setup validation.
  • Oversee release readiness, code review, and technical quality assurance in absence of a dedicated QA resource.
  • Ensure proper documentation of code, data pipelines, and system behavior within Confluence.

Requirements

  • Senior-level expertise in Python (API development, Glue scripts, Lambda functions).
  • Deep understanding of AWS native data services (Glue, Redshift, S3, CloudWatch).
  • Experience leading distributed engineering teams, setting standards, and maintaining visibility over progress.
  • Ability to collaborate directly with non-technical stakeholders, translate requirements, and drive delivery predictably.
  • Experience with data engineering or ETL tools (Glue, Airflow, DBT).
  • Exposure to AI/ML integrations or analytics pipelines (Amazon Bedrock, SageMaker).
  • AWS certification (Solutions Architect or Developer Associate).
  • Experience leading vendor transition projects or distributed engineering teams.
  • Familiarity with infrastructure-as-code tools (Terraform, CDK).
  • Understanding of data modeling and warehouse performance tuning (Redshift).
  • Prior work with faith-based, nonprofit, or SaaS analytics platforms.
