Collaborate with a multi-disciplined team of architecture and engineering professionals on rail structural projects.
Engage in the full project life cycle from schematic design through construction for Class I, short line, and passenger railroads.
Conduct site assessments and prepare design calculations.
Develop construction cost estimates.
Contribute to development of preliminary and final designs using AutoCAD and other design applications.
Work on projects including industrial and maintenance facilities, locomotive fueling stations, bulk handling structures, and administration buildings.
Participate in learning seminars, mentorship, and networking activities as part of the structured internship.
Requirements
Undergraduate pursuing a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering.
Previous experience or formal training with AutoCAD.
Strong working knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication skills; ability to ask questions and engage in discussions with team members and other internal contacts.
Ability to travel locally as needed for project assignments, team meetings, site visits, etc.
Availability to work 40 hours per week (mid-May through mid-August 2026) with occasional overtime.
Legally authorized to work in the United States and able to complete and pass background, security, and drug test requests.
Advantageous: Previous coursework or project assignments related to structural design.
Advantageous: General understanding of drafting techniques and construction plan development practices.
Advantageous: Previous experience with RISA or Revit.
