About the role
- Analyze complex legal factual issues while conducting extensive and well-reasoned legal research.
- Independently develop and aggressively present defense strategies on behalf of clients for auto and general liability cases from inception through trial.
- Prepare pleadings, written discovery, motions, and briefs in support of defense strategies.
- Provide effective and timely information, legal advice, and other services.
- Communicate with the court, witnesses, opposing counsel, and co-counsel with professional diplomacy and discretion.
- Participate in claims file reviews.
- Independently conduct trials, depositions, arbitration, and mediations.
- Attend continuing legal education seminars in order to maintain a high level of professional expertise.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate Degree from an accredited law school and a license to practice in the State of Florida is required.
- Minimum 7 years of experience handling bodily injury claims with proven trial expertise.
- First chair jury trial experience is preferred, but not required.
- Legal research and motion practice expertise.
- Positive-minded and collaborative team-player attitude.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Solid MS Office proficiency (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, & Outlook); Lexis Nexis experience is a plus!
- Self-directed aptitude with excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
