About the role
- Design, implement, and maintain network infrastructure supporting both hospital and academic environments.
- Lead enterprise network architecture initiatives including LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPN, and SD-WAN solutions.
- Ensure performance, security, and reliability for clinical applications such as Epic EHR and related healthcare systems.
- Collaborate with infrastructure, cloud, and cybersecurity teams to align network strategy with enterprise IT goals.
- Implement and manage firewalls, routers, switches, and network security controls.
- Troubleshoot complex network performance and connectivity issues, leading root-cause analysis and remediation.
- Support cloud connectivity (Azure, AWS) and hybrid integrations across data center and SaaS environments.
- Maintain and optimize network monitoring, capacity planning, and performance metrics.
- Partner with vendors and service providers to ensure service quality, uptime, and contract compliance.
- Document network architectures, policies, and standard operating procedures.
- Mentor junior engineers and participate in strategic planning for technology upgrades and modernization.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in technical network engineering
- Relevant education or experience may be substituted as appropriate.
- Master’s degree in Network Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive experience in network architecture and operations preferred.
- Prior experience in a healthcare or hospital environment strongly preferred.
- Certifications: Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), AWS Certified Advanced Networking – Specialty, Project Management Professional (PMP)
