About the role

  • Pre-study including information gathering, method selection and plan of the thesis work
  • Get insights into process planning
  • Analyze existing solutions related to process planning in the markets and their limitations
  • Collect end-user requirements
  • Investigate how AI can enhance machining time estimation
  • Define necessary algorithms to calculate time study for different operation types (limited scope – Milling/Turning/Drilling)
  • Create a prototype to validate the algorithm
  • Conclude findings, challenges, and suggested solutions
  • Written report and oral presentation

Requirements

  • Master studies in Mechanical/Production/Computer engineering, or similar
  • Good skills and interest in process and operation planning
  • Skills and interest in information modeling, AI and programming
  • Insights into the metal cutting industry and processes are beneficial
  • Excellent communication skills in English and/or Swedish
