About the role
- Drafting and reviewing various reinsurance treaties
- Reviewing and negotiating contracts
- Collaborating with management to monitor and manage developments in the reinsurance sector
- Providing legal support to claims and underwriting (risk selection) units
- Advising on the implementation and interpretation of the company’s content governance framework
Requirements
- Licensed to practice law in Quebec or Ontario
- Five (5) to eight (8) years of legal practice in the legal department of a company, a law firm, or a government entity
- Knowledge of commercial law, with practical skills and experience in contract review and negotiation
- Experience with life insurance operations and regulatory matters
- Experience handling claims-related litigation
- Bilingual in French and English required
