About the role

  • run point solving complex business problems through the development of advanced software solutions driven by machine learning, statistical modeling, and optimization techniques
  • collaborate closely with a cross-functional group of business analysts, engineers, and data professionals to leverage complex signals from a variety of sources
  • design or improve cutting-edge data science solutions
  • drive significant performance and revenue for the CNET brand
  • work closely with business stakeholders to identify new strategic opportunities and leverage data to drive impactful outcomes
  • collaborate closely with other teams within CNET Tech and Data to understand complex data structures, sources, and systems
  • design and implement advanced data science solutions to solve a variety of business problems
  • grow solid understanding of AdTech and MarTech stacks and the role of data
  • pitch and present to senior leaders and stakeholders to drive adoption and understanding of offerings and capabilities
  • participate in the broader data science community within Ziff Davis on the design and execution of complex data science projects

Requirements

  • 5+ years of professional experience in a data science role
  • ideally with an MS in STEM with a focus in computer science, ML, statistical modeling, or optimization
  • Bias to action, with a strong sense of execution
  • Proactive and influential communicator
  • Extensive experience with end-to-end model development, deployment, and monitoring workflows, including MLOps best practices
  • Demonstrated ability to leverage the latest advancements in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and LLMs to solve business problems and drive innovation
  • Proficiency in Python and SQL and extensive experience working in Databricks, with a strong understanding of scalable data processing
  • Extensive experience with marketing or media specific data science challenges, such as customer segmentation, product recommendation, lifetime value modeling, and forecasting, with a focus on innovative solutions
  • Strong foundation in statistical principles and the application of advanced methods for experimental design and analysis, including A/B testing, hypothesis testing, and regression analysis
  • Experience building personalized and/or real-time recommender systems
  • Ability to own key deliverables, drive complex projects to completion on time, and strategically iterate when justified by potential, incremental value
  • Ability to communicate project status, timelines, and complex technical results to broad audiences, including executive leadership
  • Extensive experience participating in scoping data science projects, owning their own execution, and leading small project teams
  • Experience developing skills specific to a specialization or expertise through research skills like literature reviews and communication of findings, demonstrating thought leadership
