About the role
- Develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, procedures, and training programs
- Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal safety regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
- Lead incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective/preventive actions
- Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments across all departments
- Manage workers compensation claims, working closely with HR and insurance providers
- Maintain all safety-related documentation and reporting
- Develop and lead plant-wide safety committees
- Deliver safety orientation and ongoing training for all employees
- Track and report on key safety metrics (TRIR, DART, etc.)
- Coordinate emergency preparation and response plans
- Foster a strong safety culture through employee engagement and accountability
Requirements
- Bachelors degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of experience in a safety role within manufacturing, preferably in food processing
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and industrial safety practices
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Experience in training and leading safety initiatives
- Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and EHS software systems
- Preferred Certifications: OSHA 30-hour or 510/500 certification
- Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar credential
