About the role

  • Assisting the team in designing safe, accurate and cost effective structural open-web steel joist girders, joists and steel deck
  • Working closely with estimating, sales, detailing, project management, finance, production and shipping
  • Creating and maintaining strong partnerships within the team as well as with customers
  • Reviewing contract documents and noting important information
  • Effectively communicating unique design requirements to detailing department
  • Utilizing design software to safely and accurately design open-web steel joists and joist girders
  • Meeting with engineers and architects in the Midwest construction market
  • Visiting job sites to better understand the construction process

Requirements

  • BS in Civil/Structural Engineering or related discipline from an ABET accredited program
  • Successful passage of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam
  • Professional Engineer (PE) and/or Structural Engineer (SE) License (preferred)
  • Willing and able to relocate for future promotional leadership opportunities within Nucor
  • Previous experience at an engineer of record (EOR) consulting firm
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
