About the role
- Leads comprehensive analysis of credit, market, liquidity, and/or model risks and provides strategic guidance to senior management on risk exposures
- Establishes key risk indicators (KRIs) and proactively monitors risk exposures across business lines
- Identifies emerging risks through the monitoring of early warning indicators and provides strategic recommendations to senior management and board committees
- Reviews financial models (such as CECL, stress testing, and/or ALM models) and provides effective challenge on model methodology, assumptions, and limitations
- Maintains model inventory and works with model owners and validators to ensure findings are remediated
- Challenges business unit risk mitigation strategies and ensures remediation plans adequately address root causes
- Provides independent assessments on regulatory preparedness and leads the preparation for regulatory examinations and audits
- Monitors changes in regulatory requirements and partners with senior leadership to develop action plans to address impact of changes
- Provides effective challenge to business line policies to meet regulatory requirements
- Provides information to management by assembling and summarizing data, preparing reports, making presentations of findings, analyses and recommendations
- Leads effective challenge of due diligence processes for new business lines or products
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, economics, or related field, or equivalent work experience
- 5+ years of experience working in banking, financial services, or risk management
- Demonstrated experience in credit, liquidity, or model risk management
- Experience supporting or participating in regulatory examinations
- Working knowledge of applicable banking regulations, with particular emphasis on FDIC credit, liquidity, and model risk management regulations
- Experience reviewing or analyzing financial models (CECL, stress testing, ALM, or similar)
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with ability to present to senior management
- Strong analytical, critical thinking, and quantitative skills with attention to detail
- Collaborative approach to working with business units while providing independent challenge and objectivity
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Professional skepticism and sound judgment
- Advanced Microsoft Excel proficiency
- Experience with risk management software
