About the role
- Design, develop, evaluate and support automated industrial machinery products with focus on the Component Manufacturing (CM) and off-site construction industry
- Lead team members through the planning, development, and deployment of complex mechanical architectures with a high level of integrated automation
- Generate mechanical project execution artifacts of small to large scale deployments (i.e. cost estimates, schedules, resource needs, risks, forecasts, status, etc.)
- Participate in the staged-gating process (i.e. requirements reviews, design reviews, test readiness reviews, verification reviews, etc.)
- Conduct troubleshooting, root cause and corrective actions
- Design, integrate, and test mechanical parts and assemblies using industry best practices
- Design, integrate, and test industrial pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- Design, integrate, and test industrial electro-mechanical and robotic systems
- Develop and maintain project documentation (i.e. system requirements, engineering drawings, equipment manuals, test plans, project notes, etc.)
- Develop and publish new standardized processes and procedures that affect engineering organization
- Ensure compliance with MiTek engineering procedures, guidelines, industry standards, and governmental regulations applicable to industrial machinery
- Perform engineering analysis and calculations where applicable (including FEA analysis)
- Enter new or update existing data in MRP/ERP system
- Support Manufacturing, Marketing & Sales, Purchasing, Installation, and Customer Service Organizations throughout a product’s lifecycle
- Review/stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies
- Mentor less experienced engineers and technicians
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
- 8+ years of related engineering experience required
- Proficiency with SolidWorks highly preferred
- Proficiency in pneumatic, hydraulic, and electro-mechanical systems
- Proficiency in machining and welding symbols with experience in GD&T analysis
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Ability to rapidly diagnose and troubleshoot automated systems
- Ability to work individually and as part of a team
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure and deadlines
- Strong planning, organizational, and decision-making skills
- Strong communication skills to interact frequently with stake holders
