About the role

  • Provide expert, business-focused advice on all stages of the employee lifecycle.
  • Partner with stakeholders to design and implement compliant policies, processes, and programs that align with Marqeta’s culture and corporate strategy.
  • Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements, policies, playbooks, and procedures.
  • Lead or support internal investigations involving employee complaints or workplace misconduct.
  • Support and manage employment-related claims, litigation, administrative agency charges, and pre-litigation disputes.
  • Collaborate on major initiatives such as strategic reorganizations, global expansion, and acquisitions.
  • Deliver training that gives managers and stakeholders confidence in handling employment matters.
  • Monitor employment law developments and share potential impact to the business and practice guidance with stakeholders.
  • Support other legal and regulatory matters of interest to broaden your skillset and make an even greater impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of employment law experience, including counseling and litigation
  • JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
  • Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a lean, high-performing environment
  • Adept at communicating complex topics in a clear and digestible way to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional partners
