About the role
- Provide expert, business-focused advice on all stages of the employee lifecycle.
- Partner with stakeholders to design and implement compliant policies, processes, and programs that align with Marqeta’s culture and corporate strategy.
- Draft, review, and update employment-related agreements, policies, playbooks, and procedures.
- Lead or support internal investigations involving employee complaints or workplace misconduct.
- Support and manage employment-related claims, litigation, administrative agency charges, and pre-litigation disputes.
- Collaborate on major initiatives such as strategic reorganizations, global expansion, and acquisitions.
- Deliver training that gives managers and stakeholders confidence in handling employment matters.
- Monitor employment law developments and share potential impact to the business and practice guidance with stakeholders.
- Support other legal and regulatory matters of interest to broaden your skillset and make an even greater impact.
Requirements
- 5+ years of employment law experience, including counseling and litigation
- JD degree from an accredited law school and admission to practice in at least one U.S. jurisdiction
- Comfortable managing multiple priorities in a lean, high-performing environment
- Adept at communicating complex topics in a clear and digestible way to stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Ability to build strong relationships with cross-functional partners
