About the role

Build new Golang microservices and develop backend systems for Lightspeed’s commerce platform
Develop and maintain software: code, implement features, review code, fix bugs, pair program, and respond to incidents
Take ownership of features and deliver impactful coding projects with accountability
Break down projects into manageable tasks to deliver value quickly
Collaborate with engineers, product managers, and designers to plan and coordinate work
Continuously learn and share knowledge through chapter reviews, demos, and mentoring
Improve common services and shared libraries, introduce/upgrade tools, improve documentation and processes
Work with web apps, APIs, Go services, databases, Kafka topics, Docker, and AWS
May get involved in front-end work if interested

Senior level of experience as a Back-end Engineer including both successes and failures
Deep knowledge in at least one of: Golang, Java, PHP, C#, C++, Ruby, Python, Elixir
Experience working on major systems and building REST API endpoints on top of data storage layers
Understanding of authentication, web security, and how frontends consume APIs
Ability to mentor and train other Engineers in the team
Willingness to learn Golang (not required to be expert)
