About the role

  • Reporting to the CFO, the Controller will play a dual role, focusing on both Financial and Project Accounting within the Accounting Department.
  • This role involves budgeting, financial reporting, and project cost monitoring, as well as overseeing invoicing, as well as Accounts Receivable and Payables.
  • This role will entail supervising and mentoring of accounting staff.
  • The Controller will collaborate closely with Project Managers, the CFO, and other stakeholders to ensure accuracy and efficiency in financial operations and compliance.
  • Closing of fiscal month-ends and year-ends, including preparation and/or review of working paper files for external auditors.
  • Prepare Joint Venture financial statements and related documents.
  • Prepare and submit required filings to Statistics Canada.
  • Cash management, including accounts receivable collections, payable and banking.

Requirements

  • A post-secondary degree specializing in Accounting with a minimum 10 years of experience, including 5 years in a managerial position.
  • Professional designation: CPA designation (or equivalent).
  • Experience working with an engineering consulting firm.
  • Knowledge of Deltek VantagePoint is a requirement.
  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • A 'can-do' attitude and proven accomplishments as a problem-solver.
