About the role
- Support the rapid migration (lift and shift) of physical and on-premises infrastructure to AWS cloud environments
- Assist in the development and maintenance of tools for provisioning, monitoring, auditing, and de-provisioning AWS cloud infrastructure using automation tools
- Work closely with solution architects and engineers to implement secure, scalable, and cost-effective AWS cloud solutions
- Maintain and optimize CI/CD pipelines using industry-standard tools like GitLab Runners or similar
- Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, or AWS CDK
- Support the configuration and automation of AWS environments using tools like Ansible
- Troubleshoot and provide support for cloud-based applications in a collaborative, cross-functional team environment
- Contribute to documentation and process improvements to enhance system reliability and efficiency
- Identify and implement AWS cloud cost optimization strategies, incorporating FinOps principles where applicable
- Participate in ongoing modernization efforts, refactoring and enhancing cloud workloads to leverage AWS-native services and best practices
- Collaborate within Agile teams, participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, and deliver incremental value through iterative development.
Requirements
- Must have three years of continuous residency in the U.S. (required for government security credential)
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field
- Associate-level certification in AWS (e.g., AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Associate, AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified Developer – Associate)
- Terraform Associate certification required
- Minimum 6 years of experience in cloud engineering, DevOps, or related fields, with a focus on AWS technologies
- Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, containerization, and automation
- Strong understanding of cloud security, networking, and best practices for AWS
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform, AWS CDK, or AWS CloudFormation
- Experience with configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, or Puppet
- Scripting proficiency in Python, Bash, PowerShell, or similar for automation
- Demonstrated FinOps ability to reduce cloud spend through cost optimization strategies and practical implementation.
- Experience implementing cost-effective, FinOps-aligned AWS cloud solutions.
