About the role
- Lead and oversee all daily transport operations, including fleet management, routing, scheduling, and dispatch.
- Develop and implement operational strategies to improve delivery performance, reduce costs, and enhance customer satisfaction.
- Ensure full compliance with transport legislation, safety standards, and environmental regulations (e.g., DVSA, HSE, and driver working time rules).
- Manage the transport department’s comprehensive budget, including fuel, maintenance, resourcing, and capital expenditure, and analyze data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
- Lead and develop the transport management team, drivers, and administrative staff, fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in transport, including 3–5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Proven experience managing large fleets and multi-site transport operations.
- Strong understanding of transport legislation, driver compliance, fleet management systems, and Operator Licence requirements.
- CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Transport Management is essential.
- Proficiency with Transport Management Software (TMS), route optimization tools, and centre of gravity studies.
