About the role

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CEO, ensuring effective alignment, coordination, and execution of the organization’s priorities
  • Work in close partnership with the Executive Assistant to the CEO
  • Support the CEO in driving the Internet Society’s mission and facilitate information flows between teams and the CEO
  • Establish standard operating procedures and timelines to ensure the efficient operation of the Executive Office and Leadership Team
  • Act as an integrator across departments and manage key strategic initiatives
  • Provide key advice and insight to the CEO, serving as a sounding board
  • Support the CEO’s external relations and advocacy, including engagement with governments, industry, and multistakeholder partners
  • Anticipate needs and prepare the CEO for high-level internal and external engagements
  • Develop and manage a CEO meeting/request engagement system
  • Oversee the agenda setting of ELT and All Staff meetings
  • Manage the flow of information to/from the CEO across the organization and streamline internal processes
  • Collaborate with the Communications, Programs, and Advocacy teams to shape the CEO’s narrative and external messaging

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior strategic, operational, or advisory role—preferably in international, nonprofit, or multistakeholder organizations
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects and senior-level relationships
  • Strong understanding of Internet governance, policy, or digital development issues preferred
  • Robust network of connections and allies from across the Internet ecosystem
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly
  • Experience working closely with senior leadership of an organization to solve problems, build consensus, and capitalize on opportunities using strategic communications and outreach activities
  • Demonstrated ability to be diplomatic and tactful in dealing with internal and external stakeholders and senior leadership
  • Capacity for big picture thinking, including anticipating what’s ahead and what needs to be done
  • Proven ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones in a global environment.
