About the role
- Serve as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to the CEO, ensuring effective alignment, coordination, and execution of the organization’s priorities
- Work in close partnership with the Executive Assistant to the CEO
- Support the CEO in driving the Internet Society’s mission and facilitate information flows between teams and the CEO
- Establish standard operating procedures and timelines to ensure the efficient operation of the Executive Office and Leadership Team
- Act as an integrator across departments and manage key strategic initiatives
- Provide key advice and insight to the CEO, serving as a sounding board
- Support the CEO’s external relations and advocacy, including engagement with governments, industry, and multistakeholder partners
- Anticipate needs and prepare the CEO for high-level internal and external engagements
- Develop and manage a CEO meeting/request engagement system
- Oversee the agenda setting of ELT and All Staff meetings
- Manage the flow of information to/from the CEO across the organization and streamline internal processes
- Collaborate with the Communications, Programs, and Advocacy teams to shape the CEO’s narrative and external messaging
Requirements
- Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior strategic, operational, or advisory role—preferably in international, nonprofit, or multistakeholder organizations
- Demonstrated experience managing complex, cross-functional projects and senior-level relationships
- Strong understanding of Internet governance, policy, or digital development issues preferred
- Robust network of connections and allies from across the Internet ecosystem
- Exceptional communication and organizational skills, with the ability to synthesize complex information clearly
- Experience working closely with senior leadership of an organization to solve problems, build consensus, and capitalize on opportunities using strategic communications and outreach activities
- Demonstrated ability to be diplomatic and tactful in dealing with internal and external stakeholders and senior leadership
- Capacity for big picture thinking, including anticipating what’s ahead and what needs to be done
- Proven ability to work effectively across cultures and time zones in a global environment.
