Medical Billing and Coding

• Responsible for accurately assigning ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS codes to inpatient records in compliance with official coding guidelines and AHIMAs Standards of Ethical Coding
• Abstracts key clinical information and ensures coding accuracy and completeness
• Reviews medical records to assign accurate diagnostic and procedural codes
• Ensures proper abstracting of required data, including discharge disposition
• Maintains at least 95.5% coding accuracy for diagnoses and procedures
• Prepares compliant retrospective physician queries as needed
• Stays updated with AHA, CMS, and other regulatory coding guidelines
• Resolves held accounts and communicates documentation issues to leadership

Inpatient Medical Coder

• Responsible for reviewing and coding medical records for outpatient encounters
• Ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and policies
• Plays a critical part in accurate coding for insurance billing, reimbursement, and patient care services
