About the role
- The Commodity Manager’s primary function is to ensure the health & outlook of the supply chain and support the business by creating procurement strategies and plans.
- Partner collaboratively with the engineering and operations teams to implement procurement strategies and policies.
- Support tactical execution from the selected supply chain and help maintain performance and profitability.
- Develop commodity strategies focusing on mechanical and electrical components including analyzing and developing sourcing strategies; spend analysis and supplier strategies.
- Negotiate pricing, monitor performance and engage in supplier selection.
- Collaborate with procurement and design engineering to meet cost, quality and design requirements.
- Develop and negotiate contractual agreements for price protection and supply security.
- Engage suppliers to provide long-term solutions to quality issues and drive continuous improvement opportunities throughout the organization.
- Develop supplier relationships resulting in optimized supply chain efficiencies and security of supply.
Requirements
- BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of mechanical and electrical components
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to interact with inter and intra departmental personnel, as well as management.
- Strong computer skills
- Successful experience in negotiating with senior level managers.
- Demonstrated understanding of entire supply chain and cost drivers.
- Demonstrated data and financial analysis capability.
- Cross functional/organizational project management and facilitation skills (internal and external).
- Demonstrated self-starter.
