About the role

  • Implementation and execution of post-award and financial management activities for grants, contracts and/or clinical trials
  • Award set-up, transaction processing, compliance review, cash management, collections, financial reporting and project close-out
  • Analyze financial results, trends/projections, performance metrics, and provide root cause analysis
  • Maintain compliance with allowable costs, period of performance, subrecipient monitoring, tracking cost share and program income, effort reporting, reporting, cash management invoicing, and clinical trial billing compliance
  • Promptly invoice and follow-up on outstanding payments; ensure proper recording of cash against programs
  • Set up and work within Sponsor portals to submit invoices and retrieve payment backup
  • Prepare journal entries to support monthly close and prepare monthly financial statements/reports
  • Prepare simple to complex financial reports and translate financials to Sponsor-required forms
  • Complete project closeout documentation; ensure cost share requirements met and close cost centers
  • Apply compliance with regulations; gather documentation for auditors
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field or relevant experience and/or education as determined by the company in lieu of bachelor's degree
  • Knowledge of accounting principles, budget planning, and financial analysis
  • Ability to assess, research, and resolve complex financial and compliance issues
  • Deep understanding of financial management in a clinical trial setting
  • Expertise in research accounting, compliance and auditing
  • Prior experience in grant, contract and clinical trial financial administration (preferred)
  • Knowledge of federal agency regulations, Uniform Guidance, laws and federal acquisition regulations applicable to research and sponsored programs (preferred)
  • Prior experience with clinical trial financial management and/or clinical research billing compliance (preferred)
  • Proficiency with MS Excel (sorting, pivot tables, filtering, lookups, subtotals, basic formulas)
  • Proficiency in financial software and adaptability to new technologies
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle confidential information
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize and manage large volumes of work
