About the role
- Develop and lead the company’s federal government relations and public policy strategy that aligns with the business goals
- Monitor, analyze and influence federal legislation and regulatory developments affecting genetic testing, precision medicine, access, reimbursement, privacy, and data use.
- Represent the company in Washington, D.C., including participation in coalitions, trade associations, and public hearings.
- Build and maintain strong bipartisan relationships with key policymakers and staff, as well as key external stakeholders
- Collaborate with market access, legal, compliance, clinical, commercial and other internal teams to assess policy risks and opportunities.
- Advise executive leadership on political, legislative and regulatory trends and their business implications.
- Lead the development of policy positions, comment letters, white papers, and testimony.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MA, MS, JD, PhD, MBA, or related field) preferred
- 15+ years of experience in government affairs, public policy, or regulatory strategy, preferably in healthcare, life sciences, or diagnostics.
- Deep understanding of the U.S. legislative and regulatory process at both federal and state levels.
- Proven track record of successful advocacy and relationship-building with policymakers.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Experience managing external consultants and internal cross-functional teams.
- Advanced degree in public policy, law, public health, or related field preferred.
- Familiarity with genetic testing, laboratory operations, or precision medicine policy.
- Experience working in or with Capitol Hill, federal agencies, and familiarity with state legislative work.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, mission-driven, and highly regulated environment.
