About the role

  • Ensure full compliance with applicable internal EHS requirements, customer expectations, legal regulations, and the standards set in the EHS management system
  • Support the EHS Manager in monitoring all legal, contractual and internal rules and regulations of GE Vernova
  • Coordinate EHS programs at the site and collaborate on effective implementation with the Site Manager, regulatory authorities and GE Vernova subcontractors
  • Review the competence and qualifications of subcontractors on site
  • Organize safety meetings and toolbox talks for GE Vernova personnel and ensure subcontractors conduct similar sessions weekly
  • Ensure effective management of incident/accident reporting on site, lead and support investigations and root cause analyses so that corrective and preventive actions are implemented according to plan
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation of EHS trainings, audits, inspections and safety monitoring activities
  • Oversee environmental programs in waste management, air emissions, water discharge, chemical handling and energy conservation
  • Manage personal protective equipment for GE Vernova employees and visitors and ensure proper use and availability
  • Ensure proper storage, shipping and handling of hazardous materials by competent personnel
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for EHS matters on site
  • Identify best management practices and lessons learned and work with the Project EHS Manager to roll them out to other sites
  • Provide accurate EHS data and KPIs to meet internal and external reporting requirements, ensuring timely submission and data integrity

Requirements

  • Degree/diploma in an engineering discipline or certified technician, industrial foreman or master craftsman (minimum DQR or EQR Level 6) in environmental sciences, occupational safety, industrial hygiene, engineering or equivalent
  • Experience in a construction project environment would be advantageous
  • Possession of an EHS certification valid in Germany (e.g., occupational safety specialist, competence field 3)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Knowledge of occupational safety practices, including but not limited to lockout-tagout, confined spaces, electrical safety, permit-to-work, working at height, etc., would be advantageous
  • Ability to manage and monitor subcontractor safety and environmental performance, communicate safety expectations and ensure compliance
  • Strong communication skills and fluent German required; English skills would be advantageous
