About the role
- Conduct detailed analysis of mainframe performance metrics to identify areas for improvement
- Continuously monitor mainframe systems to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance system performance, including tuning and configuration adjustments
- Work closely with systems programmers, administrators, and other IT staff to troubleshoot and resolve performance issues
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with performance standards
- Participate in disaster recovery planning and testing to ensure system resilience
- Work collaboratively with systems programmers, system administrators, development programmers and other IT staff to ensure efficient operation of the mainframe system
- Document mainframe capacity and performance issues and implement procedures for system performance optimization
Requirements
- 10+ years' experience with the Mainframe
- 6+ years of experience in mainframe performance analysis and optimization
- Strong analytical skills, proficiency in performance monitoring tools (e.g., RMF, OMEGAMON, SYSVIEW, MAINVIEW), and excellent problem-solving abilities
- In-depth knowledge of mainframe architecture, operating systems (e.g., IBM z/OS), and job control languages (e.g., JCL)
- Bachelor's degree in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, military, and work experience
