About the role
- Lead the design, implementation, and maintenance of highly available and scalable infrastructure and services.
- Develop and implement best practices for monitoring, alerting, and incident response to ensure system reliability and availability.
- Automate deployment, configuration, and management processes to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.
- Conduct performance analysis and capacity planning to proactively address scalability challenges and optimise resource utilisation.
- Collaborate with software engineering teams to ensure that applications are designed for reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Drive continuous improvement through the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, tools, and methodologies.
- Participate in on-call rotation and respond to incidents as needed, ensuring timely resolution and minimal impact on users.
Requirements
- Experienced in a similar role, with a proven track record of designing and maintaining highly reliable and scalable systems.
- Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS.
- Strong knowledge of containerization and orchestration technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools such as Datadog and Sentry.
- Solid understanding of networking concepts and protocols.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as Ruby, TypeScript, Python, Bash, or Go.
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team environment.
- Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
- You are passionate about learning and sharing your knowledge, and not afraid to challenge your peers, but also welcome being challenged.
- English language abilities, both written and verbal - you’ll be working with people across the world, including from Australia.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; or equivalent work experience.
- You have experience in mentoring team mates, or even leading an Engineering squad.
