About the role
- Search for an American Sign Language Subject Matter Expert with recent ASL teaching experience for a contract writing role for courseware that will be used in high school classrooms
- The ideal candidate teaches ASL in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language
- The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn the language through courseware
Requirements
- Strong skills in teaching receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture
- Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English
- Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
- Ability to create video scripts for sign language videos
- Can teach and/or assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively
- Expertise to develop activities and role-plays
- Post-secondary ASL degree
- Deadline-driven
- Receptive to feedback
- Can work remotely as part of a larger team
- Open to using various applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
