About the role

  • Search for an American Sign Language Subject Matter Expert with recent ASL teaching experience for a contract writing role for courseware that will be used in high school classrooms
  • The ideal candidate teaches ASL in high school, or at a college or community college, and can write to provide high school students with a solid foundation in the language
  • The candidate should have a vision of how students can learn the language through courseware

Requirements

  • Strong skills in teaching receptive and expressive ASL, with an understanding of Deaf culture
  • Fluent in ASL and proficient in written English
  • Ability to disseminate language knowledge in writing
  • Ability to create video scripts for sign language videos
  • Can teach and/or assess state curriculum and ACTFL standards effectively
  • Expertise to develop activities and role-plays
  • Post-secondary ASL degree
  • Deadline-driven
  • Receptive to feedback
  • Can work remotely as part of a larger team
  • Open to using various applications - MS Word, Dropbox, Smartsheet, Slack
