About the role
- Engineers will work directly with the Port Engineer and Vessel Captain maintaining the Curtin Standard onboard.
- Perform engineering duties on tugs and vessels: troubleshoot/repair electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical systems
- Operate tow winches, maintain engine room cleanliness
- Manage inventories, work plans, requisitions, manage deckhands, plan work with Port Engineer and Captain
- Operate and utilize Vessel Management System (VMS), ensure compliance with Sub-M, ABS, USCG requirements and audits
- Commission and retrofit vessels, manage dry-dockings and repairs for senior levels
Requirements
- TWIC Card
- MMC – OS/Wiper
- CG Med Cert
- Passport
- MMC QMED/Oiler (preferred)
- Able Seaman Endorsement (preferred)
- STCW Basic Training (preferred)
- DDE 1000/4000 (various levels)
- STCW - RFPEW, AS-Engine, OICEW (preferred for higher levels)
- Must be able to swim
- Physical ability: lift 40 pounds, traverse uneven ground, climb ladders, work in confined spaces
- Experience: Assistant or sole Engineer on tugs; skilled in multiple vessel systems; leadership for higher levels
- VMS proficiency
