About the role
- Determine initial and ongoing suitability for gamete donor program by eliciting, evaluating, and documenting donor family medical histories
- Review and interpret genetic testing results, perform document reviews, and collect medical updates
- Conduct genetic interviews and complete pedigrees, medical profiles, and chart documents
- Provide information and education to donors about genetic testing and obtain informed consent
- Coordinate genetic testing and inform donors of results, refer for follow-up counseling as appropriate
- Enter and verify genetic assessments and test summaries; assist with final donor chart reviews
- Communicate with recipients, healthcare providers, and assist phone queue during business hours
- Collect and manage adverse outcome reports, assess risk, coordinate additional testing, and document cases
- Participate in team meetings, quality improvement projects, and contribute to departmental initiatives
- Participate in restriction/notification process, create and collect informed consent for vial transfers, and complete product improvement initiatives under guidance
Requirements
- Master's degree from an accredited genetic counseling program
- Board-certified with the American Board of Genetic Counseling (ABGC)
- Holds or able to obtain genetic counseling license in appropriate states, if applicable
- 3 years prior experience which include 2 years professional education and 1 year, or more, of relevant genetic counseling work experience
- Knowledge of and proficiency in MS Word and Excel
- Aptitude for learning and becoming proficient in Navision or other computer software, as needed
- Excellent customer service skills
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- High level of interpersonal skills to interact with clients, donor, peers and management
- Strong attention to detail in composing and proofing materials
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
