Communications

• The Communications Directorate of the Paramedic Service is responsible for optimizing the services of the Integrated Ambulance Dispatch Centre (IADC), implementing improvements to the paramedic system and related quality improvement programs, the effective and efficient deployment of paramedic staff, and the production of public reports.
• The incumbent is responsible for ensuring optimal dispatch services and emergency call-taking within the Eastern Ontario hospital catchment area, in accordance with provincial legislation and City of Ottawa policies.
• Provides high-quality, accessible dispatch services in the most efficient manner possible to meet client and patient needs.
• Under direct supervision, the incumbent receives and triages medical emergency calls; provides pre-arrival instructions to callers; and dispatches emergency vehicles and paramedics to ensure the widest effective coverage of the service area.
