About the role
- Lead new product development projects by developing new formulations and/or new processes
- Lead ingredient qualifications
- Lead renovation projects that may explore alternate formulations, ingredients, suppliers and/or processes
- Identify opportunities for improvement related to products and processes and support the technical feasibility
- Support plants and/or comanufacturers on product and process optimization
- Batch and process formulas of semi-finished and finished prototypes or products needed for marketing and/or additional testing
- Ensure compliance of formulations with all relevant market requirements
- Ensure formulations meet budget requirements
- Execute accelerated stability testing plans and analyze results to predict shelf life and/or stability of products
- Manage across multiple systems documentation control of all necessary ingredients, technical information, process directions, and formulations
- Define and populate product specifications within a global centralized system
- Build and manage liquid bills of material within a global centralized system
- Oversee first production of products to ensure successful industrialization
- Train plant personnel as well as marketing and commercial teams on new products
- Design and execute scientific/R&D experiments, analyze results, and summarize conclusions and next steps
Requirements
- 5-8 years of product development experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering, or other science subject
- Strong chemistry and mathematical skills
- Sensory experience of foods and/or beverages
- Keen understanding of good manufacturing and laboratory practices, especially within food and beverage industry
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- Must be proficient in Italian and English
- Flexible to travel both domestically and internationally
