About the role
- Steers the Plant Woodruff and Plant Spartanburg teams to support external events, stakeholder engagements, Plant visits, and overall external communications needs
- Manages multiple workstreams and deadlines, communicates strategically, and supports operations
- Leads project management for external events held at Plant Spartanburg and Plant Woodruff, including plant milestones, community engagements, media-facing events, etc.
- Serves as BMW Zentrum liaison and supports oversight of operations
- Manages external plant visits and coordination with visit stakeholders: HR, Zentrum, security, and leadership
- Manages and maintains relationships and works directly with media members for external communications initiatives
- Maintains Plant Standard Data information
- Leads, gathers, prepares, and disseminates information on events, visits and as directed by communications team
- Coordinates communication with media relations
- Works as a member of the team that coordinates media relations
- Serves as a liaison in the development, implementation and management of public relations and media events as outline in the yearly communication plan
- Provides support for internal and external events
- Supports event planning, writing, and photography
- Supports the Communications team as directed across core initiatives within BMW Manufacturing
- Develops, maintains improvements of Plant Spartanburg's image as an integral, active member of the community
- Understands and models VPS (Value Added Production System) Principles and concepts of Standard Work and Problem Solving
- Adheres to 5S and Safety Standards and Principles
- Performs other duties as assigned by management
Requirements
- BA/BS degree Project Management, Communications, Journalism, English or Business
- 5+ years of professional experience in communications and project management experience
- 5+ years of professional experience in digital communications and or Television
- 5+ years of experience with MS Office (i.e. Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
- 5+ years of external communications and events skills
- 3+ years of working in an international environment skills (preferred)
- 3+ years of working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment (preferred)
- Working knowledge of AI/LLM tool integration, understanding of analytics/search
- 2+ years of executing projects from concept to conclusion and managing multiple projects simultaneously skills
- 3+ years of demonstrating strong writing, verbal, critical thinking skills and performing under deadline pressures skills
- 3+ years demonstrated relationship management skills
- Advanced proficiency in German, Spanish (preferred)
- Video production/editing skills (Preferred)
