About the role

  • Drive architectural decisions and contribute to long-term technical strategy in partnership with engineering leadership
  • Own complex feature development end-to-end, from initial planning through delivery and observability
  • Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, scaling challenges, and system reliability issues
  • Set engineering standards and promote best practices in code quality, testing, documentation, and system design
  • Collaborate with product, design, and other technical stakeholders to shape roadmaps and scope technical initiatives
  • Mentor engineers across the team and provide technical leadership through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing
  • Contribute to improving the developer experience through tooling, automation, and process refinement

Requirements

  • 6+ years of professional experience building and scaling modern web applications and distributed systems
  • Proven track record of technical leadership on complex projects or systems
  • Expertise in backend development using a modern framework such as Django, Rails, or similar
  • Experience working across the stack, with the ability to contribute meaningfully to frontend development (React or equivalent)
  • Strong systems design and architectural skills, with a focus on performance, reliability, and maintainability
  • Deep understanding of APIs, data modeling, asynchronous workflows, and service-oriented architecture
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred, AWS/GCP acceptable), infrastructure-as-code, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to drive cross-functional collaboration and technical decision-making.
