About the role
- BGC is seeking student interns with a passion for applied earth sciences and a dedication to learning in a technically challenging and inspiring team environment
- The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, relevant work experience and a desire to travel and work in diverse and remote conditions
- Student interns at BGC can expect a mix of office and field-based project work that supports a wide variety of clients in the mining, pipeline, transportation, energy, and community sectors
- Typical field work includes site investigations and construction monitoring
- The balance of office and field work varies, though BGC strives to get student interns into the field with BGC’s professionals whenever possible
- Typical office work includes reporting and interpretation of field data, supporting data management and data entry, interpretation of instrumentation data, and contribution to designs
Requirements
- Enrolled in, or a recent graduate of, a relevant undergraduate degree in Civil (Geotechnical/Hydrotechnical/General) or Geological Engineering, Geoscience, Geology, Geophysics or a related field
- Excellent written, presentation and oral communications
- MS Office skills
- A second language is an asset
- Familiarity with some of the below topics is an asset: Soil Mechanics, Rock Mechanics, Hydrogeology, Hydrology and Hydraulics, Geochemistry, Geomorphology, Technical Writing
