About the role

  • Serve as primary point of contact for HSE related policies/practices within assigned region and project sites
  • Oversee regional HSE professionals and provide consistent leadership, direction, and motivation in line with company HSE strategy and vision
  • Provide HSE subject matter leadership and direction to project leaders
  • Conduct project site assessments to improve effectiveness of HSE policy and practices implementation, employee behaviors, and subcontractor performance and compliance
  • Document findings, propose corrective actions, and communicate results to stakeholders
  • Participate in developing and conducting field safety orientation
  • Observe workers to determine appropriate use of prescribed safety equipment
  • Inspect specified areas for fire-prevention equipment, first-aid supplies, and other safety
  • Test working areas for hazard exposures using associated testing equipment
  • Investigate accidents per program procedures to establish root cause for use in recommending preventive safety measures
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, unsafe conditions or behavior
  • Assist in development of standardized job safety analysis (JSA) and corporate safety and health management program (SHMP)
  • Conduct safety meetings with workers to instruct them on company/project safety practices and requirements

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or a related technical field
  • 7 years of previous construction experience
  • 1 year of previous experience as on-site safety person
  • OSHA Outreach Trainer
  • First Aid, CPR, and AED Trainer
  • Working knowledge of government regulations, hazard control methods, and industrial hygiene
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct training and influence organizational behavior
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment
  • Versed in the industry and the Company's competitors
  • Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary
