About the role

  • Support the day-to-day operation of the plant, providing technical leadership in executing the required production plan
  • Provide strong leadership in the areas of safe plant operation and adherence to BASF Process Safety rules and policies
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts when problems arise as well as identify opportunities for continuous improvement
  • Provide technical and leadership support in root cause failure analysis for production, EHS, and Quality Incidents
  • Serve as a role model in championing risk reduction activities for all plant employees by setting a Zero Incident Mindset and perform observations on safe work practices, compliance to basic rules, and set high standards for housekeeping
  • Direct process capability and efficiency efforts to reduce operating costs, reworking off grade material, and improving plant operations
  • Provide Technical Support and troubleshooting expertise to daily operational team for plant problems that occur and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Be accountable for critical Process Safety elements such as Management of Change (MOC), PSSR’s, Accident and Incident Management system, Operational Procedures, and employee participation
  • Ensure correct downtime category assignment of lost production via GAP tool; as well as develop plans to optimize the unexpected losses and scheduled downtime for the plant equipment.

Requirements

  • Hold a bachelor’s degree in an Engineering Field (Chemical Engineering preferred)
  • Preferably possess 2 years of Operations Engineering experience
  • Have strong troubleshooting skills, familiarity with chemical processing equipment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective communication skills
  • Bring prior experience in process hazard analysis, management of change, root cause analysis, and incident investigations.
